Trailer arrives - 14 Aug 2010

Posted by XenaCommander on August 15, 2010 at 6:26 PM

After a trip to Victoria this week I didn't get back to Auckland until 2:30 am Friday night...  So I only had 4 hours sleep before I had to set off for Turangi..    I had recently been successful in bidding for a tandem axle trailer on Trade Me and the seller offered to deliver it to Turangi for me...   Grateful for this I arranged some cash for him and agreed to meet him around midday on Saturday...

It poured with rain all the way down so the roads weren't busy and I arrived before the required delivery time.

The trailer turned up and he reversed it up the drive.   I forgot to take pics while the excitement was happening but I took a couple once it was on its pad.

It is pretty big..  full 2500mm wide..  and 5100mm long body with drawbar...   A major purchase for the final plan so I am pretty happy..  although broke..!!  lol...

I have quite a bit to do to get it to be the way I want it..   It is wired for 12v with electric brakes...  and lights..  I need to make sure it is compatible with 24volt which the trucks electrics are.

I also need to fit brackets and tie downs for the bikes and kayaks...    and of course I need to paint it the same colours as the truck..  A nice challenge for me...

This work will be done later...  In the mean time it will sit on the pad and likely store some things that are currently in the garage.   Anyone know an auto electrician who can help me with the electrics..??

The rest of the time down there was spent doing rust treatment in the cab...   The next few visits will be spent doing rust work..  yuk...

Stay tuned..
